Open Lecture “Topologically protected localized states in classical PT metamaterials” by Dr. Nikolaos Lazaridis (University of Crete, NUST MISIS) will be held in NUST MISIS on October, 28 at 12:40.

Abstract: The topological properties of artificially structured, diverse physical systems have attracted recently great attention. In this context, particular geometries may lead to localized states either at the ‘surface’ or at specifically designed interfaces, which are topologically protected. Similar effects emerge in classical one-dimensional dimerized metamaterial chains that may possess parity-time (PT) symmetry. It is demonstrated that topologically protected localized states are supported by such systems, which are eigenmodes of the corresponding (quadratic) eigenvalue problem. The solution of the latter reveals that the localized eigenmodes are in fact isolated mid-gap states.

Venue: NUST MISIS (Moscow, Leninsky prospect, 4), main building, conference hall # Б-607 (6th floor).
