The Thirty Fifth lecture "Magnons coherent quantum states" in Open RQC Colloquium will be held in National University of Science and Technology MISIS (Moscow, Leninskiy prospekt 4) lecture hall № Б-536 (5th floor), on 9th of February 2018 at 10:00 a.m by Yury Bunkov, directeur de recherché, Institut Neel, Grenoble, France and leading scientist, Kazan Federal University, Russia.

Abstract

Supermagnonics and magnon Bose-Einstein condensation is a new branch of quantum physics of condensed matter. The subject is dealing with the formation, development and applications of coherent quantum liquid of magnons in magnetically ordered materials. The all quantum phenomena like spin supercurrent, Josephson phenomena, critical current, phase slippage, quantum vortex etc. was discovered for magnon liquid at low and ultralow temperatures. (2008 Fritz London Memorial Prize).  Recently the magnon BEC and spin supercurrent was observed at room temperature. The experiments were done in Yttrium Iron Garnet (YIG) film at the magnetic field, perpendicular the film. In these conditions we have observed the classical magnon BEC at k=0. The magnon coherent transport – the supermagnonics is under investigations in YIG. We can demonstrate the first pioneering results of these phenomena. This discovery opens the door for many applications of supermagnonics – the magnonics of magnons quantum liquid.

Biography

Yury Bunkov was born in 1950 near Stavropol (Russian Federation). He obtained his M.S. (1974) in Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology and Ph.D. (1979) and Habilitation (1985) in Kapitza Institute for Physical Problems. He is well known by his works at ultra-low temperature, discovery of Spin Superfluidity in antiferromagnetic superfluid 3He and investigations of non-linear NMR. From 1995 he is working in the Institut Neel, CNRS, Grenoble, France as a Directeur de Recherchs , where he continuing the investigations of spin superfluidity as well a modeling of cosmological phenomena in superfluid 3He and experimental search a Dark Matter. He is a member of «Academia Europea»  Cambrige, England from 2010. He also participates in the scientific researches in Kazan Federal University, supported by special grants of Russian Federation authorities.  In this investigations there was found the magnon superfluid states in antiferromagnetic MnCO3 and CsFnF3 as well in YIG.
